Bostik, Inc. Expands Line of Floor Coatings with AgION® Antimicrobial  (24/11/2006)
AgION Technologies, a leading provider of silver-based antimicrobial solutions, expanded its partnership with Bostik.

Bostik is now incorporating the AgION® antimicrobial into its Durabond D250™ Moisture Vapor Barrier Coating and Durabond D261™ Extreme Moisture Vapor Barrier Coating. Bostik began its partnership with AgION in 2004 and recently expanded its product line to include the Durabond D1400™ Epoxy for adhering resilient and rubber flooring materials, providing further evidence of growing demand for AgION’s silver-based antimicrobial in the construction market. AgION’s products protect the coatings against the growth of bacteria, mold and fungus, especially in high risk environments such as food processing and healthcare facilities.

“The AgION name is synonymous with safe, long-lasting antimicrobial protection, and we are proud to partner with this company,” said Scott Banda, Product Manager at Bostik, Inc. “We have incorporated AgION’s silver-based antimicrobial into three of our product lines and have successfully sold it into national grocery store chains and other leading retailers. The effectiveness of the antimicrobial, coupled with its proven safety and environmental friendliness, makes it ideal for our most demanding applications. We plan to offer additional product lines that feature AgION’s innovative antimicrobial in the coming months.”

Bostik’s Durabond line of products has proven to extend the life of floors by protecting against the growth of microbes. The moisture-activated release mechanism of the silver-ion antimicrobial makes it especially effective in demanding environments that experience heavy foot and equipment traffic and where moisture control can often be an issue. Moreover, because it is naturally occurring, the AgION antimicrobial provides safe protection for the environment and for human contact.

“We are thrilled to continue our close partnership with Bostik. It’s a great example of our aggressive growth strategy for this market where we build strong partnerships with market leaders who manufacture epoxy, urethane concrete, coatings, grouts and caulk for food and beverage and healthcare environments,” said Ginger Merritt, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at AgION Technologies. “Our partnership with Bostik underscores the fact that AgION’s antimicrobial has become the preferred solution for companies seeking high performance, low toxicity, environmentally friendly antimicrobial technology for demanding applications.”

The AgION antimicrobial provides continuous and long-lasting protection from microbes by releasing silver ions to the surface at a slow and steady rate. This creates a self-cleaning surface that combats existing microorganisms as well as additional microbes that are introduced to the surface. The patented AgION antimicrobial technology is designed to last throughout the life of the product. AgION’s antimicrobial has been proven effective against a broad range of microorganisms, including bacteria, algae, and fungus such as mold and yeast, yet is safe enough for human and food contact. AgION’s antimicrobial has been approved for food and water contact by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is listed as an indirect food contact substance with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Bostik participation to the 30th Symposium Adhesives & Finishing 2005   (27/10/2005)
Bostik took part to the 30th Munich Adhesive and Finishing Symposium 2005 held in Munich from the 24th to 26th October 2005.

A paper titled A Practical Way of Predicting Low Temperature Tack of Hot-Melt Pressure Sensitive Adhesives was presented.

Abstract: Precise evaluation and prediction of tack properties in practical conditions of use are critical requirements for the proper selection of adhesives in demanding specialty applications such as low temperature pressure sensitive labels. A range of more or less sophisticated techniques for the evaluation of tack related properties are available. Among these, probe tack testing can be used to predict in a practical and reliable manner the ability of a given adhesive to fulfill low temperature application requirements relevant to a particular industrial situation. The method described in this study is particularly relevant to discriminating styrene-block-copolymer based hot-melt pressure sensitive adhesive capable of fulfilling severe freeze grade label requirements.

Change of company name  (29/09/2004)
1st october 2004 : BOSTIK FINDLEY becomes BOSTIK

On January 1st 2001, our company was named BOSTIK FINDLEY as a result of the merger between BOSTIK and ATOFINDLEY.

The association of the 2 names has helped facilitate the merger, both internally and externally in communicating to our customers, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders, on the continuity of our operations.

More than 3 years after, we all know that the merger has been a great success and everybody in the company can be proud of what we all have accomplished to make it happen.

We are a respected, well established company in all the regions of the world and we are recognized as one of the world leading Adhesives and Sealants manufacturers.

The merger is clearly behind us and we are now entering into a new phase of our development.

This year also, TOTAL has decided to split the Chemical Branch in different entities. As a result, ATOFINA will disappear and new names will be introduced for the CIP Business and the Petrochemical Business.

It is then the right time to implement our project of change of our company name.

Obviously BOSTIK appears as the name of choice for a lot of reasons :

- BOSTIK is already the front name of the company,
- BOSTIK is the only worldwide brand of the company,
- BOSTIK is one of the most respected brand in the world,
- BOSTIK is a short name, easy to memorize,
- BOSTIK is simply the best brand you can dream on for an adhesive.

It is easy to pronounce in all the languages, it is a self explained brand for an adhesive as it carries the word “stick”.

The change of company name to BOSTIK will be effective as of October 1st, 2004.

André LADURELLI
