Turbo-Seal® LOOP 1.0 cold seal adhesive meets BPI-certification for industrial compostable flexible packaging applications

Bostik, the adhesive solutions segment of Arkema, announces an increase in its sustainable offering with the flexible packaging industry’s first compostable cold seal and will present it at the ASC Annual Convention & Expo April 17 at the Omni Louisville Hotel in Louisville, KY. The Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) recognizes Bostik’s Turbo-Seal® LOOP 1.0 adhesive as a compostable cold seal coating solution for heat-sensitive flexible packaging such as confectionary, baked goods and medical applications.

Compared to traditional cold seals, Turbo-Seal® LOOP 1.0 is completely redesigned. While it offers similar bond strength and performance capabilities, it processes easier and is comprised of compostable raw materials. Turbo-Seal® LOOP 1.0 also enables converters to now offer brand owners a 100% compostable cold seal packaging, because it is a BPI-certified, compostable cold seal solution. This makes brand owners one step closer to accomplishing their sustainable packaging goals.

“Turbo-Seal® LOOP 1.0 is an example of how Bostik has established itself as the cold seal leader in the North American market,” said Jeff Ogren, Global Flexible Packaging Director at Bostik. “Along with our technical expertise, our market knowledge has helped us formulate a cold seal solution that directly answers the unmet need for compostable solutions in flexible packaging. We are proud to be the first adhesive supplier to help converters expand their cold seal packaging offerings with a compostable solution.”

In addition to being compatible with many compostable films and papers, Turbo-Seal® LOOP 1.0 offers:

  • Heat-sensitive adhesion for confectionary and medical applications to reduce material distortion risks
  • Similar production efficiencies to traditional cold seals, enabling you to continue using the same equipment and reduce investment costs
  • Low odor and foaming as a PFAS-free solution to help enhance overall processing efficiencies.
