Customer event held in Shanghai promoted the increased use of flexible packaging and showcased the capabilities of Bostik’s cold seal technology.
Bostik, a leading global adhesive specialist for industrial, construction and consumer markets, hosted a unique customer seminar on flexible packaging in Shanghai, China on 17 October. The event, which took place on the Bund under the theme of ‘Life is Full of Smart Adhesives’, focused on expanding China’s flexible packaging market and provided an ideal platform for Bostik to introduce its innovative range of cold seal adhesive technologies.
A pioneer in adhesive innovation, Bostik invented cold seal technology and leads the market in the field of cold seal adhesives. Cold seal technology is an intelligent, cutting-edge technology that can be widely applied across the flexible packaging industry. It is used in applications as diverse as food packaging through to household chemical products. The technology enables faster packaging speeds and improves packaging production processes whilst maintaining the integrity of food and offers advantages in terms of product safety.
Bostik is the market leader in cold seal technology with over 80% market share in China. However, cold seal technology in the country is currently limited to the packaging of food products including chocolate and wafers, leaving significant potential for future market growth. As a result of increased promotion and changing market requirements fuelled by the demand for energy efficient production and innovative technologies in China, cold seal technology will increasingly be used in packaging a variety of foods and other products. In the future, Bostik will work to promote the capabilities and potential applications of cold seal technology in the Chinese market.
In his address at the seminar, Bostik Asia Senior Vice President, Jeffrey Merkt, said:
"Asia is one of the regions with rapid economic growth that we are fully focused on, and China is a very important market within that region. The rapidly developing Chinese market is going through many changes, and with the escalation of mass consumption and the increased awareness of health, consumer demands are quickly changing and becoming more diversified. A strong, continuous innovation strategy is necessary to stay in sync with market changes."
Bostik is currently engaged in a series of promotional activities to promote its brand and to highlight the role its adhesive innovations play in everyday products and services. The company is currently running a digital advertising campaign on the façade of the Citibank Tower on the Bund in Shanghai. The program will run until January 2017 and is expected to significantly increase awareness and recognition of the Bostik brand in China.
