BOSTIK 6530

Solvent based adhesive
SDS
Product overview
Bostik 6530 is a two component solvent borne fast curing contact adhesive. It offers strong resilient bonds which exhibit good resistance to water, humidity etc. The cured film of Bostik 6530 has good resistance to UV exposure. The adhesive has good storage stability, this being particularly relevant where high storage temperatures are encountered; such as overseas. Bostik 6530 Part A is a solvent borne adhesive based on polychloroprene rubber whilst Bostik 6530 Part B is a solvent borne isocyanate curing agent.

Method Of Use

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Ensure that the surfaces to be bonded are clean and grease free by cleaning with Bostik Cleaner 3, abrading with clean emery cloth then cleaning again.

ADHESIVE PREPARATION:

Mix together thoroughly, for approximately 5 minutes, Bostik 6530 Part A and Bostik 6530 Part B preferably in the portions as supplied i.e. 100 parts of Part A and 2 parts of the Part B by weight.

APPLICATION & BONDING:

- Apply an even coat of the mixed adhesive to both mating surfaces by brush, roller coater or serrated trowel.

- Allow the adhesive coats to dry for 10 to 20 minutes or until they can just be touched with the knuckles without the adhesive being transferred.

- Join the surfaces together using as much pressure as possible, taking care not to trap any air.

- Components may be handled within minutes of being bonded.

PRECAUTIONS MUST BE TAKEN TO ENSURE THAT BOSTIK 6530 PART A, 6530 PART B AND THE MIXED UNCURED ADHESIVE ARE NOT CONTAMINATED WITH WATER OR WATER VAPOUR AS THIS COULD HAVE A DETRIMENTAL EFFECT ON BOND STRENGTHS.

Recommended Use Bostik 6530 will bond natural, polychloroprene, Nitrile, butyl, Hypalon and polyurethane rubber surfaces. It has been specifically developed for use in the construction of inflatable products such as boats, balloons etc. Bostik 6530 is not recommended for use of flexible PVC because of the possibility of plasticiser migration.
