Smart solutions for heat activated thermal bonding films

Our hot melt technology can address these pain points. Using polyurethane (PU), copolyester (CoPES) or copolyamide (CoPA) technologies, our heat activated thermal bonding films can:

  • Extend product durability due to high washing resistance and adhesion with nylon, cotton and PET along with difficult substrates, including recycled or bio-based materials
  • Improve productivity with quick bonding, easy cutting, and low melting points
  • Provide matte or glossy finish and softness for improved appearance
  • Offer compliance with Oeko-Tex certification and other regulations for increased safety and sustainability

Frequently Asked Questions about Textile Printing Films

What is heat transfer printing film?

Heat transfer printing is the magical combination of heat and pressure to transfer an image onto the item (t-shirt, clothes, underwear, bags, cap, and so on); it is the image from one surface to another. These heat transfer methods can include Custom heat transfer and Cad-cut heat transfer film.

Custom heat transfer: The design is printed onto a carrier and uses hot-melt powders. Customized heat transfers are ideal for large product quantities since the hot powder melt allows for a fast application while maintaining consistent printing capabilities.

Cad-cut heat transfer film: The design is cut out of a colored or pre-printed transfer film with an integrated hot melt film. The film is cut with a vinyl cutter during this process to create the design. Cad-cut heat transfer films are ideal for smaller quantities, such as DIY design.

Bostik provides the powder and films technology for both methods.

What adhesives are suitable for textile printing films?

The adhesive used in the heat transfer printing industry is hot melt powder and films, with extreme elasticity with a soft touch, good fastness, excellent stability, and water/dry washing resistance.

Bostik provides the following hot melt eco-friendly solutions:

  • CoPES: Fast adhesion and compatibility with PVC
  • CoPA : good adhesion on Nylon and PVC TPU: Soft hand
