What types of adhesive should be used for automotive plastic repair?
For plastic repair of vehicles, the main adhesive technology is 2-component polyurethane. This is the predominant technology for common plastics used in bumpers. Alternatively, for some special plastics, which are more difficult to bond, MMA adhesives can be used. Finally, the Bostik 2-components cyanoacrylate (Born2Bond range), quite new to this market, is also perfect for this application, and especially for technical level.
Which products are recommended for plastic repair?
When you have a dented or breached bumper, you need an easy and fast product to repair the plastic, and make the bumper looks like it's almost new.
Smaller holes can be repaired with XPU20102, an ultrafast setting 2-component repair adhesive. For larger surface area repairs XPU2017 with a longer working time is the product of choice. Bostik provides a variety of polyurethane adhesives with different open times. Application is very quick, easy and avoids waiting too long before continuing the repair. The repaired part can be sanded shortly after product application so that repair process can continue without long waiting times.

Our 2-component polyurethane adhesives are supplied in 2x25ml dual cartridge with a 1:1 volumetric mixing ratio.. Cartridge can be opened and closed for multiple uses, just apply a fresh static mixer and adhesive can be applied again. Additional static mixers and adhesive applicator are available on demand.
