M100 ELASTOSOL

Elastosol
Product overview
Elastosol M100 is a room temperature applied, low modulus anti-flutter material. It may, however, be heated to temperatures of up to 50°C to aid application if required.
Available sizes
DRUM(S) 270 KG/P2
DRUMS 27 KG/P18

Smart Advantages

Highly resistant to wash-out in the pretreatment baths
Adheres to a wide range of metal substrates
Cures at paint stoving temperatures
Key Benefits
  • Highly resistant to wash-out in the pretreatment baths
  • Adheres to a wide range of metal substrates
  • Cures at paint stoving temperatures
  • Does not produce corrosive by-products during welding or curing
  • Excellent resistance to over baking
  • Does not contain epoxy or volatile solvents
Adhesive Technology AUTOMOTIVE ELASTOSOL
Color Black
Adhesion Approx. 1.3 [MPa] (stoving conditions 30 minutes 160°C. Bond 20 x 25 x 3mm)
Temperature Resistance The physical properties of Elastosol M100 vary according to temperature, but it retains good cohesive strength over a wide temperature range. according to temperature, but it retains good cohesive strength over a wide temperature range.
Viscosity 400 - 550 [Pa.s] at 10s^-1, 30°C (measured on a controlled stress rheometer cone and plate set up)
Chemical Resistance Elastosol M100 is resistant to water, common salt, ethylene glycol and oil in its cured state. Continuous immersion in petrol will swell the cured polymer.
Relative Density Approx. 1.5
Important Before embarking on any work involving Elastosol M100 the safety data sheet should be carefully studied by those carrying out the work.
Recommended Use Elastosol M100 may be used for a wide range of sealing and bonding operations such as bonding outer panels to inner panels and reinforcing stringers on hoods, trunks and roofs. Elastosol M100 is free from chlorine and doesnot contain epoxy.
Shelf Life 12 months from date of manufacture, unopened in original container stored under the above conditions.
Storage
  • M100, like all Elastosols, must be protected from rain, snow and extreme heat.
  • The drums should not be stored outside where there will be potential for water ingress to occur.
  • M100 should be stored unopened in a cool dark place at no more than 20°C in order to preserve the 12 month shelf life from date of manufacture.
  • Please note: if the storage temperature is very low, the product must be allowed to warm up to ambient temperature prior to application.
Method Of Use

APPLICATION

  • Elastosol M100 may be applied using conventional air operated pumps or more sophisticated robotic equipment

OVERPAINTING

  • Elastosol M100 can be overpainted with oil based, cellulose based or stoving enamels but does not accept electrocoat paint

ADHESION AND CURE CONDITIONS

  • Elastosol M100 is applied to oily steel (oil coating 2 - 4 g/m2) at the body-in-white stage of the car building process.
  • Consequently Elastosol M100 has been designed to cure in the electrocoat paint ovens.
  • It is recommended that Elastosol M100 is cured between 160°C and 205°C for 30 minutes.
  • Overbaking does not lead to loss of adhesion and there is no risk of corrosive fumes being emitted.
