Sponsored by Bostik and created by Artaic, the annual Design 'N Gather Innovative Mosaic Design Competition is gearing up for the winner reveal inside the iconic Cupola at the NoMad Hotel in NYC on November 11th! Bostik's Dimension® RapidCure™ was specified as the grout of choice for DNG 2018. Designs from the top 10 finalists will be on display at Bostik Booth #861 during BD | NY 2018.

The Esteemed Jury Selected 10 Striking Mosaics to Move on to the Final Round

Bostik is excited to reveal the top 10 finalists of its 2018 Design ‘N Gather mosaic design competition. The most competitive iteration thus far, hundreds of submissions where received from talented artists, architects, and designers from across the U.S. The winning mosaic will be unveiled at an event on November 11th in the Cupola of The Nomad Hotel, where it will also be permanently installed.

“We were in awe of the submissions we received this year,” says Ted Acworth, CEO and founder of Artaic. “Designing a mosaic for the Cupola at The NoMad Hotel is particularly challenging due to the intricate measurements and shapes of the rooftop and walls. The final submissions captured the essence of the hotel—creative, elegant, and considerate to the unique historical and architectural elements that influence this landmark.”

Comprised of industry leaders and hospitality design experts, the Design N’ Gather jury was tasked with evaluating this year’s submissions using a rigorous blind-judging rubric. After much deliberation, they were able to narrow down the submissions to 10 finalists: “The Monarchy,” by Kate Lux; “Starry Nights,” by Kavitha Iyer; “Eternal” and “Mourning Doves,” by Sandie Turchyn; “Rose Hips,” by Lynn Heitler; “Blue Room,” by Jeremy Noonan; “Clouds,” by Kathleen Hogan; “Mosaic Network,” by Diana Q. Saul; “Moonlight Owls,” by Barbara Rush; and “The Glade,” by Paul Phillips. The judges also awarded an Honorable Mention to Ashley Clayton’s entry, “The Big Apple.”

Utilizing Vitreous Glass tiles from Artaic and Bostik’s Dimension® RapidCure™ grout, the winning mosaic will usher in a new era for the Cupola’s event space, providing an elegant backdrop for guests to enjoy for years to come. The winner will also receive a free trip for two to Paris, courtesy of the competition’s premiere sponsor, Bostik Smart Adhesives.

This year’s esteemed panel of judges included: Joanne Yong, Senior Vice President & Principal of Wilson Associates' NY Studio; Jean-Gabriel Neukomm, Principal at JG NEUKOMM Architecture; Rob Polacek, Chief Creative Office at Puccini Group; Joyen Vakil, SVP of Design & Development for MGM; Jake Lamstein, Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer at The Sydell Group; Michelle Finn, President of Hospitality Media Group; Scott Banda, Director of Marketing & Business Development for Bostik North America; and Ted Acworth, CEO and Founder of Artaic.
