4 STEPS TO ENSURE A SMOOTH INSTALLATION

Step 1: SUBFLOOR REPARATION
It is important to check if there are any cracks ities on the subfloor in order to avoid any problems later in the process. For that you must use the adequat repair product.

Step 2: DAMP PROOF MEMBRANE
Moisture is one of the most frequently encounterd problems in buildings. To protect your floor you have to suppress residual moisture or block rising damp depending on the jobsite.

Step 3: PRIMER
Then comes the step of priming in order to eliminate and control subfloor absorption. If you skip this step you will see defaults of the subfloor appear through the covering.

Step 4: SELF-LEVELING COMOUND
To make the subfloor perfect and smooth you must use a suitable self-leveling compound depending on the type of use.

1. TRADITIONAL BONDING METHOD

Retail stores, hotels, restaurants, offices, healthcare centers… go through high amounts of traffic and activities and often, the floor gets beaten up easily. The traditional bonding method adapts to all these types of sectors including high traffic areas and coverings that are subject to various constraints.

Moreover, this method of installation involves the use of an adhesive to adhere your luxury vinyl flooring to the subfloor. Bostik offers the perfect solution to create dimension stability that ensures the flooring maintains its natural characteristics.

Bostik proposes 2 ideal products for LVT with a short waiting time and high initial grab: BOSTIK STIX A800 PREMIUM and BOSTIK STIX A550 POWER ELASTIC.

2. BONDING IN EXTREME CONDITIONS

WET ROOM LVT DESIGN

A bathroom or a kitchen is subject to strong constraints: humidity, frequent cleaning with detergents, etc. Gluing an LVT floor covering in this type of environment is possible as long as you have a suitable adhesive.

The higher adhesive quality, the less likely it is to buckle due to moisture. Thanks to BOSTIK STIX H995 ELASTIC XTREM, that is resistant to humidity, it is now possible to have the same floor in the bedroom and the bathroom.

RESISTANT TO TEMPERATURE VARIATION!

LVT glued behind a bay window, atrium or glass-fronted building can be subject to considerable thermal change. Selecting the ideal flooring option for your space requires both an adapted installation method and a high-performance adhesive. The glue down installation for extreme conditions using BOSTIK STIX P956 2K prevents any deformation and resists to temperature variations.

3. LOOSE-LAY INSTALLATION

Each market segment has specific features and constraints. In a store, the downtime is a crucial element to take into account when renovating the place.

The installation of LVT loose lay allows a minimal downtime. Bostik is developing even-faster systems with an easy application and a short waiting-time, the BOSTIK FIX A760 TECH is the best solution in this case. For a quick return to service, a rapid self-levelling compound is necessary.
