A new generation of high performance polyurethane adhesives with environmental benefits

UHP CX adhesive is a versatile , fast-curing adhesive for retortable food packaging. It is recommended for high performance and thermal applications, even up to 135°C.
Contrary to conventional polyurethane adhesive that requires 7 to 10 days in a hot chamber UHP CX cures at 23°C in 2 to 3 days, which eliminates the need for hot chambers and offers energy savings and lowers CHG emissions for the final package.

In addition to its quick curing at ambient temperature, UHP CX demonstrates great adhesion to all common flexible packaging materials like PP, PE OPA, or Aluminum films.

Key Benefits
  • Versatility: Resistance to aggressive retort cycles (up to 135°C) on different types of packaging, so food can be stored longer (closing the gap between flexible packaging and steel cans).
  • Improved productivity and sustainability: Cross-linking takes only 2 to 3 days at room temperature, compared to 7 to 10 days in a hot chamber for existing solutions, which reduces energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Safety: Complies with food safety regulations at the highest level, GLYMO-free, and zero risk of PAA (primary aromatic amine) formation.

An adhesive rewarded by the Pierre Potier prize

The Pierre Potier prize awarded Arkema with a medal for Bostik's UHP + CX development. This is the first time Arkema's adhesives are awarded with a prize from the prestigious Pierre Potier Prize.

Created in 2006 by the French Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industry, and supported today by the Fondation de la Maison de la Chimie and France Chimie, the Pierre Potier Prize aims to promote and encourage innovations by chemical companies in favor of sustainable development. Winning the Pierre Potier prize is a sign of recognition and valorization for the projects presented and the companies.
