Preparation
- Ensure the paving is properly laid on a level, fully cured mortar bed with good drainage.
- Clean the joints thoroughly, removing any grease, oil, dirt, or loose materials, and rinse with water if needed.
- The joints should be 5-30mm wide, and at least 25mm deep.
- The ready-mixed patio grout can be applied in most weather conditions, however, lower temperatures and / or wet weather will extend curing times.
Application
- Before applying the paving joint filler, thoroughly soak the joints and paving, allowing excess water to drain. Keep the paving wet throughout the process.
- Open the bag of patio jointing compound and pour out just enough compound to cover 2-3m² at a time. Once opened, use the product within 30 minutes.
- Use a soft brush or squeegee to work the brush in patio grout into the joints, then compact it using a pointing tool or rounded piece of wood, filling slightly below the surface.
- Refill and compact as needed to ensure good strength.
- Remove excess compound by brushing diagonally across the joints, ensuring any chamfered edges are exposed.
- Smooth the surface with a pointing tool.
- After 24 hours, brush off any residue using a clean, stiff brush.
- To store leftover compound, keep it sealed in the tub and fully covered with water for up to a month.
- Refer to the Technical Data Sheet for full Instructions on how to apply.
Cleaning
- For tools and equipment, simply rinse with warm water immediately after use.
- The patio jointing compound is resistant to most standard patio cleaners, making maintenance easy.
