RENO C700 FINISH
Ideal for patching and filling damaged and uneven subfloor areas, such as gouges, depressions, ridges, and trowel marks, this patching compound ensures a smooth surface, ready for the installation of resilient and textile floor coverings. Its fine texture makes feathering easy and allows the thin layer of the compound to smoothly transition between surfaces. The feather edge screed can also be used for preparing plywood, such as when filling joints between sheets, and smoothing over imperfections such as screw heads for a smooth base for floor coverings.
With no priming required and thanks its rapid-drying technology, this floor finishing compound saves time on both domestic and commercial projects. Depending on the application thickness and ambient conditions, it can be ready for light foot traffic and floor coverings in just 15 minutes.

Preparation
Before applying the patching compound, it is important to ensure that the subfloor is in good condition. It should be clean, sound, and dry (with a relative humidity of less than 75%). The subfloor should have sufficient tensile and compressive strength, and be free from laitance, cracks, structural defects, and any contaminants that could interfere with adhesion. For more guidance on preparation, please see the technical data sheet.
The temperature of both the floor and the surrounding environment should remain stable, ideally between +5°C and +27°C, during both the application and drying process of the floor finishing compound.
Application
Start by mixing the patching compound with water, until the mixture is smooth and lump free – this usually takes around two minutes. For best results, allow it to sit for a minute, before mixing again for another minute. Unused powder can be stored for future use by ensuring all excess air is removed and the bag is sealed tightly. The floor finishing compound can be applied from a 0.2mm skim coat for flooring up to 3mm thick. For thicknesses between 3mm and 12mm, it is recommended to apply it in 3mm increments.
Under normal conditions, the mixture will remain workable for about 15 minutes. If it begins to stiffen, a quick re-mix, without adding more water, should restore the creamy consistency. The feather edge screed should then be applied to the prepared subfloor, using a steel trowel to spread it evenly at the required thickness. Depending on ambient conditions and application thickness, the patching compound may be ready for the adhesive when it is no longer affected by the adhesive trowel - this can take just 15 minutes.
Cleaning
Clean the equipment with warm, soapy water right after use as any excess is easiest to remove while the floor finishing compound is still wet. Once it has dried and hardened, it can only be removed mechanically.
Can you feather self-levelling compound?
Bostik RENO C700 FINISH can be used as a feather edge self-levelling compound - it can be applied from a 0.2mm scratch coat up to 3mm thick, making it ideal for feathering.
Can you use skim coat on plywood?
Yes - Bostik RENO C700 FINISH is suitable for use as a plywood flooring skim coat. The patching compound can be used to fill joints between sheets and smooth over imperfections such as screw heads, providing a smooth base for floor coverings.
What substrates can the patching compound be used on?
This versatile floor finishing compound can be used over a variety of substrates, including smoothing compound, plywood, concrete, and rigid fabricated underlays before the application of resilient and textile floor coverings.
Does a primer need to be applied before the floor finishing compound??
No - priming is not required before using Bostik RENO C700 FINISH. This saves time on both domestic and commercial projects, as long as the surface is clean, dry, and free from loose material.
Can the patching compound be used over ceramic tiles?
Yes - depending on the floor covering installation, Bostik RENO C700 FINISH can be used over ceramic tiles. For loose lay vinyl in domestic projects, the feather edge screed can be used to fill the grout recess. However, for stuck-down commercial vinyl, it is better to use a product such as Bostik SL C955 ADVANCED to ensure the best finish and coverage.
