“Survival of the fittest” is a phrase that began in evolutionary theory, but today, it is more commonly used in other contexts and refers to a supposed greater probability that the “fit” as opposed to “unfit” will survive in time and use. The more something like a company or a product can adapt, the longer it will last, the stronger it becomes, and the more useful and reliable it is. Adaptability is defined as being able to adjust oneself readily to different conditions. Bostik knows how important adaptability is. We develop and continue to evolve our products to adapt to any and all conditions. This desire to adapt and grow and become the very best we can be has placed us as the global leader in adhesives and in hot-melt technology — technology that is used in tire labeling.

Rubber based tires are traditionally quite difficult to label due to the use of silicone in the molding process. Not only must the adhesive be compatible with the rubber surface, it must be able to adhere to the chemicals that are on the tires. Silicone is sprayed directly onto tires in order to help release them from the molds, and silicone is extremely difficult to stick to. Having even the thinnest layer of a silicone release agent on a surface that needs a label requires a very aggressive hot-melt adhesive. The true challenge of addressing these factors is that no tire is going to have the same amount of agent on the surface. The amount of silicone is going to be different tire to tire, and often times, there are different silicones being used in the same facility. For this difficulty, Bostik has developed a hot-melt adhesive that is the most adaptable adhesive available and most ideal for tire labeling.

Bostik has revolutionized the labeling process with high performance polyester adhesives designed to bond to a wide range of surfaces, regardless of the additional materials on those surfaces. Silicone from tire molds in any amount does not affect our hot-melt products used for labeling. Our adhesives have an excellent resistance to water and plasticizers; they have a low viscosity, allowing for an ease in application not found with our competitors. They have a incredible high and low temperature resistance making them the very best option in labeling.

Bostik has never been content to remain as we are. We continue to push the boundaries of adhesives for more than just labeling. We are always reaching further and evolving. Adaptability is the key to our success. It is how we have grown to become the preeminent company in adhesives all over the world.
