Trailer Adhesives & Sealants
How Our Trailer Solutions Help Reduce Materials’ Environmental Impact
Our PLIOGRIP™ structural adhesives, ISOSET™ and ISOGRIP™ two-part latex adhesives, and silyl modified polymer (SMP) sealants for trailer applications can offer:
- Compatibility with lightweight substrates: Our ISOSET™ and ISOGRIP™ trailer adhesives are formulated to bond to lightweight substrates, such as EPS foam, plywood and fiberglass. Additionally, PLIOGRIP™ and SMP solutions are compatible with lightweight composites and can make it easy to incorporate them into your trailer designs. These capabilities help you reduce overall trailer weight and contribute to reduced gas emissions in use.
- Our PLIOGRIP™ two-part polyurethanes are designed for thermoset composites; our PLIOGRIP™ methyl methacrylates work well for thermoset and TPO thermoplastic composites; our PLIOGRIP™ low modulus is for TPO thermoplastic composites.
- High bond strength: Because our PLIOGRIP™ structural adhesives offer high bond strength, they can help reduce damage likelihood, waste and energy usage associated with service work.
- Room temperature cure: Certain PLIOGRIP™ trailer adhesives do not need heat to cure, which can contribute to reduced energy consumption.*
- More sustainable formulations: Our SMP trailer sealants formulated to be free from isocyanates. This means they utilize fewer hazardous chemicals than technologies that contain isocyanates. As a result, they can help improve worker safety.
*Other PLIOGRIP™ adhesives are available in heat cure for faster cycle times compared to room-temperature cure PLIOGRIP™ solutions.
How Our Trailer Solutions Help Streamline Production Efficiency
Our PLIOGRIP™ structural adhesives and SMP sealants can provide production efficiency benefits such as:
- Compatibility with automatic dispensing: Our adhesive and sealant formulations are optimized for automatic dispensing to help keep production lines moving and reduce labor costs.
- Fast cure speeds and cycle times: Our SMP sealants can be available in dual SMP technology and applied via an SMP gun; this system offers high green strength to increase cure speeds. Compared to a one-component system, it yields seven times faster strength build, based on our internal testing. It also is solid after curing for one hour, reducing cycle times as well. Further, our PLIOGRIP™ trailer adhesives achieve handling strength quickly and can offer fast heat curing to help increase throughout and minimize cycle times.
- Primerless adhesion: Our SMP sealants and our methyl methacrylate PLIOGRIP™ structural adhesives can be applied to trailer sandwich panels, wall and ceiling panels and windshields and fixed windows without a primer. This helps reduce complexity as well as associated costs and likelihood of rework.
- Ability to be spray applied: Certain SMPs can be applied via a spray gun, which allows for fast coverage to large areas, such as trailer hoods.
- Ability to be roll coated: Our ISOSET™ and ISOGRIP™ can be roll coated, which supports high-speed processes and can provide precise adhesive thickness application.

How Our Trailer Solutions Help Improve Performance
Compared to fasteners, our PLIOGRIP™ structural adhesives, ISOSET™ and ISOGRIP™ trailer adhesives and SMP sealants can allow you to manufacture a safer and more durable trailer, offering:
- Vibration and moisture penetration resistance: PLIOGRIP™’s strong bonds across trailer types help minimize vibration, which can reduce wear and tear overtime and prevent parts from loosening. Additionally, our trailer adhesives, including ISOSET™ and ISOGRIP™, can be used instead of fasteners; they are less likely to fatigue and separate, which can reduce moisture penetration into the joint as a result and increase trailer longevity.
- Temperature resistance: Our PLIOGRIP™ two-part polyurethanes are designed to absorb stresses placed on substrates when exposed to different temperature extremes. This allows them to work well for refrigeration trailers especially, as the exterior and interior temperatures may vary.
- UV resistance: Our SMP trailer sealants offer UV resistance; in addition to aiding in aesthetics, this capability supports the trailer’s ability to maintain resiliency and mitigate joint fatigue, contributing to a long trailer lifespan.
- Uniform coverage: Our trailer adhesives and sealants are formulated to provide uniform coverage for consistent strength and seal to protect trailer integrity.
Additional Advantages Our Trailer Solutions Provide
Our PLIOGRIP structural adhesives can also offer:
- Custom formulations: For certain volume quantities, our PLIOGRIP™ trailer adhesives can be custom formulated to meet specific application requirements.
- Improved aesthetics: Our low modulus and two-part polyurethane PLIOGRIP™ adhesives are formulated to minimize bond line read through, which reduces adhesive shrinkage and can result in a smooth, aesthetically pleasing surface. They also are available in different colors, such as green, tan and black, to meet design preferences.
- Different packaging sizes: Our PLIOGRIP™ adhesives are available in sizes including totes, drums, pails and cartridges to accommodate varied customer volume needs.
Our ISOSET™ and ISOGRIP™ trailer panel lamination adhesives can provide:
- Improved aesthetics: These adhesives are designed to replace welding and rivets so that trailer panels can offer a smoother, more seamless aesthetic comparatively.
Additionally, our SMP sealants can allow for:
- Broad capabilities for specific application needs: Our electrically-conductive seam sealant is designed to eliminate the need for a primer in electrostatic paint processes. Additionally, our SMPs can bond to glass and various composites, such as SMCs, TPOs, nylon and carbon fiber for use across applications.
- Different packaging sizes: Our SMPs are available in sizes including drums, pails, sausages and cartridges to accommodate varied customer volume needs.
