Global adhesives company expanding methyl methacrylate (MMA) structural adhesive manufacturing to North America

Bostik, the adhesive solutions division of Arkema, is now manufacturing FIT30 45, a methyl methacrylate adhesive (MMA) technology, in North America as of the acquisition of Ashland’s Performance Adhesives business unit. This technology is suitable for structural bonding across various transportation vehicle markets, including marine, bus, recreational, agricultural, construction, trailer and truck. By manufacturing in North America, it will ease supply chain concerns and give customers direct access to the product when and where needed.

“While this has been a goal for some time, the acquisition allowed us to accelerate the launch of FIT30 45 in North America,” said John Baetz, Regional Business Director – Mobility NA. “We believe providing availability to MMA adhesive technology in this area will help manufacturers complete productions at a faster rate and ease their overall supply logistics while providing them with a quality product.”

A two-part product, FIT30 45 enables structural bonding to meet the largest market requirements, providing the following advantages:

  • Long shelf life to extend usage and reduce product waste
    • 12 months (cartridges)
    • 24 months (drums or pails)
  • High thixotropy to reduce sagging on vertical applications
  • Fast curing with long open times to improve productivity
