Brands and countries

With ever-changing regulations and increasing production demands, it can be hard for transportation manufacturers to keep up. Fortunately, Bostik’s Dual SMP technology system aids in a more efficient, lower cost-in-use transportation production process. Take a closer look at how:

The Dual SMP system operates using a gear-based transmission gun design that combines an advanced adhesive, or Silyl Modified Polymer (A-component) with an accelerator, or water paste (B-component). Using this gear power, the SMP gun offers the following benefits over other options on the market:

  • Improved reliability
  • Enhanced durability
  • Decreased maintenance

With Bostik’s patented SMP technology system, the two components are mixed together consistently and uniformly, leading to the following:

Faster Processes

This system produces a mixture with extreme green strength and faster cure times. As a result, the finishing time following application is reduced for a variety of replacement and transportation production processes.

Additionally, compared to single component systems, it offers 7x faster strength build up. This feature is especially important for the strong bonds needed in the transportation and automotive aftermarket.

Faster Hardness and Shear Strength

Furthermore, with Dual SMP technology, 90% of final hardness is reached after 24 hours. Likewise, 75% of final shear strength after 24 hours. This rate is significantly higher when compared to single component systems in the following graphs:

Putting Dual SMP to the Test

After switching to this system, a European bus manufacturer was able to significantly reduce processing and finishing times. In particular, process improvements included a reduction in clamping times from 4 hours to 30 minutes. As a result, Dual SMP helped save the bus manufacturer significant time and money.
