With high-tack grab adhesives, you can bond all common building materials such as glass, concrete, metal, brick, wood, and natural stone.

What does a grab adhesive do?

High-tack grab adhesives create a strong instant bond with the substrate when applied. This bond then continues to strengthen into a permanent elastic bond. High-tack adhesives also do not need any support to hold the connection while curing.

On building projects, these adhesives can be used to give an aesthetic, clean finish. Since they do not require any support after application, they help save time and labour costs. High-tack grab adhesives adhere strongly to most common building materials and can be used to bond two dissimilar materials, for example, metal and stone or wood and glass.

What is the difference between grab adhesive and contact adhesive?

Contact adhesive, commonly called super glue, is a type of glue that is generally applied thinly to both sides to be joined together. When the two surfaces are brought together, the bond is almost instant.
A grab adhesive is more versatile and can be used on a greater range of substrates than a contact adhesive. That is one of the reasons why it is very popular for use on construction projects and home renovations.

How strong is grab adhesive?

Hybrid technology is amazing! The whole point of a grab adhesive is to bond materials that you would otherwise have to fix using nails or screws. All you need is the adhesive product and a caulking gun. No need for a drill, a screwdriver, or a hammer. No need for nails, screws, or brackets.

That’s how strong grab adhesives are!

What is the best grab adhesive to use for my job?

You can select a grab adhesive to suit your needs. A regular adhesive is suitable for lightweight objects. You could use it on heavier objects, but then you would need to clamp the surfaces together and support them while the adhesive cured – which would defeat the whole purpose of using a grab adhesive!

For heavier objects, step up to a high-tack grab adhesive. No need for clamps and supports. This type of adhesive will give you instant grab and ‘ultra-strong’ adhesion.

And then there are premium high-tack grab adhesives, which offer you the highest initial tack and extreme, heavy-duty strength.

Meet our adhesives with the highest initial tack

  • BOSTIK H385 SUPER GRIP EASY FIX is a professional-quality easily gunable hybrid-based adhesive with instant grab properties assuring a powerful bond once cured. It was developed as a universal adhesive for bonding many lightweight porous and nonporous building materials.
  • Bostik H785 HIGH TACK is a high-quality professional hybrid adhesive with an extremely high initial tack. It was developed as a universal high-grip, high-strength adhesive for bonding many building materials such as: stone, concrete, mirrors, glass, plasterboard, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, hard plastics, enamel, ceramic, copper, lead, zinc, tin, aluminium, metals, alloys, stainless steel, and wood.

What is the strongest grab adhesive?

  • Look no further than BOSTIK H980 HIGH TACK PREMIUM. This product surpasses the original HIGH TACK formulation. Bostik offers the highest initial tack performance and powerful strength. This product also provides a stain-free application on expensive natural stone and very porous surfaces.
  • (Note: For panel bonding, Bostik offers the H970 PANELTACK, H975 PANELTACK HM, and S970 PANELTACK S products, which are specifically designed for that purpose.)
Get the job done with Bostik’s high-quality grab adhesives.

How to apply high-tack grab adhesives?

The following three Bostik products are useful for three different scenarios:

  1. Lightweight objects;
  2. Heavier objects; high initial tack, high strength; and
  3. The highest initial tack performance and extreme strength.

Lightweight Objects

BOSTIK H385 SUPER GRIP EASY FIX

Step 1: Preparation

  • All solids must be solid, clean, dry, and free of grease and dust.
  • Clean substrates with Bostik T100 UNIVERSAL CLEANER.
  • Application temperature + 5 to + 40 degrees Celsius (environment and substrates).
  • Bostik H385 SUPER GRIP EASY FIX adheres perfectly without the use of a primer to most non-porous substrates.
  • Porous substrates are to be pre-treated with Bostik T300 UNIVERSAL PRIMER.
  • Always test adhesion prior to application.

Step 2: Application

  • Hold the gun at a 90-degree angle and rest the tip of the nozzle on the substrate. Then squeeze the handle of the gun as you move the nozzle. This will form the ideal bead.
  • Apply adhesive in vertical stripes with 20 to 40cm between stripes. (Do not apply the adhesive in dots!)
  • Bring the materials into position and press firmly so that the adhesive occupies a minimum gap of 2 to 3mm thick between the material and the surface.
  • Support and/or clamping during curing will be necessary for heavy loads.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for use on mirrors.
  • Not suitable for polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate (Perspex, Plexiglas, acrylic), Teflon, soft plastics, neoprene and bituminous substrates.
  • Not suitable for continuous exposure to water.
  • Not suitable in combination with chlorides (pools).

High initial tack, high strength

BOSTIK H785 HIGH TACK

Step 1: Preparation

  • All substrates must be solid, clean, and free from grease and dust.
  • Clean substrates with Bostik T100 UNIVERSAL CLEANER.
  • Application temperature +5 to +40 degrees Celsius (environment and substrates).
  • Bostik H785 HIGH TACK adheres perfectly without the use of a primer to most non-porous substrates.
  • Porous substrates to be pretreated with Bostik T300 UNIVERSAL PRIMER.
  • Always test adhesion before application.

Step 2: Application

Due to the structure of Bostik H785 HIGH TACK we recommend using a professional caulking gun with the correct transmission in combination with the V-nozzle.

Apply adhesive in vertical stripes with 20 to 40cm between stripes. (Do not apply the adhesive in dots!)

Bring the materials into position and press firmly so that the adhesive occupies a minimum gap of 2 to 3mm thick between the material and the surface.

Because of the high initial strength, support during curing is usually not necessary.

Limitations

  • Not suitable for continuous exposure to water
  • Not suitable for polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate (Perspex, Plexiglas, acrylic), Teflon, soft plastics, neoprene or bituminous substrates
  • Not suitable for movement joints
