Adhesives specialist will feature innovative hot melt, web and film adhesives

Bostik, a leading global adhesive specialist for industrial, construction and consumer markets, will exhibit at CAMX in Anaheim, CA on September 27-29. CAMX connects the world’s composites and advanced materials communities, serving as the go-to event for products, solutions, networking and advanced industry thinking.

Sponsored by the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE), two leading industry non-profit organizations, this year’s event is expected to attract over 7,500 attendees and will host more than 400 exhibitors in the Anaheim Convention Center.

At the show, Bostik will feature its hot melt, web and film adhesives for several markets. The company’s hot melt polyurethane and polyolefin adhesives in particular are suitable for filter, transportation or general assembly applications and offer performance properties which can be adapted to meet individual requirements. These include various open times, high temperature resistance, strength and flexibility.

Bostik’s Sharnet® and standard web adhesives are non-woven adhesive materials that handle like fabric. Featured products at CAMX will showcase the breadth of Bostik’s capabilities to produce webs, from polymer chemistry to additive features (e.g. fire retardants). Fire retardant web products are particularly suitable for skin to core bonding in the aerospace market, where adhesion, handling and fire retardancy are important considerations. While fire retardant webs offer unique benefits, all of Bostik’s webs provide a porous, easy-to-use adhesive option with various benefits to engineers using traditional or advanced materials.

For more demanding applications, Bostik’s film adhesives offer specific advantages for the composites market. The company will feature F10-316, a thermoset polyester film that has a low activation temperature and good flow properties. For other composite systems, Bostik will showcase F14-588, a pressure sensitive fire retardant film that offers great potential for applications where high shear strength and fire retardancy are required, such as aerospace interiors.

These solutions form part of the Arkema Group’s portfolio of innovative solutions for the composites market. The Group also offers its thermoplastic resin Elium® for the manufacturing of composite components reinforced with glass or carbon fibers, such as bumpers or hoods in automotive applications. With performances matching those of thermoset composites, thermoplastic composites in Elium® offer many advantages in terms of recyclability and processing at room temperature.
