Application process: RENO C715 EASY FLASH

Quick Application Steps (On-Site Guide)

  • Prepare: Ensure substrate is clean, sound, dry and free from contaminants
  • Mix: Add approx. 4.5 L water per 15 kg bag, mix until smooth
  • Apply: Spread from feather edge up to 10 mm (local repairs up to 15 mm)
  • Wait: Walkable in ~30 minutes
  • Cover: Floor coverings from 30 minutes to 12 hours depending on thickness and type

1. Subfloor preparation

Proper preparation is essential for performance:

  • Substrates must be sound, dry and free from dust, oil, grease and contaminants that may impair adhesion
  • Remove weak layers, old adhesives, paint residues or laitance by mechanical means
  • Vacuum thoroughly to remove dust and loose material
  • Ensure tiles are firmly bonded; re-fix or remove if unstable
  • Degrease and abrade dense or smooth substrates
  • Treat cracks and joints with appropriate repair systems
  • Priming is generally not required, but may be necessary depending on substrate type

Substrates must comply with relevant building standards before application.

2. Mixing

  • Add approx. 4.5 litres of clean, cold water into a mixing bucket
  • Gradually add the 15 kg powder while mixing continuously with a drill and paddle
  • Mix for approx. 2 minutes until smooth and lump-free
  • No slake time required (fast-setting product)
  • Working time: approx. 15 minutes

Important: Do not overwater, as this weakens the compound and affects performance.

3. Application

  • Apply from feather edge up to 10 mm (up to 15 mm for localised repairs)
  • Pour onto the prepared surface and spread evenly using a smoothing trowel
  • Compact well when filling holes; level and smooth the surface
  • Trim excess within ~10 minutes before material begins to set
  • For additional layers, allow curing, then re-prime if required before reapplying

The product delivers a smooth finish and is suitable for patching and skim coating walls and floors.

4. Drying & curing

  • Working time: ~15 minutes
  • Walk-on time: ~30 minutes

Protect from direct sunlight and draughts during curing.

Typical covering times:

  • ≤0.5 mm: ~30 minutes (all coverings)
  • 0.5–10 mm:
    • Ceramic tiles: ~1 hour
    • Resilient flooring: ~1–2 hours
    • Wood flooring: ~12 hours

5. Underfloor heating

  • Switch off heating systems 48 hours before, during, and at least 48 hours after application
  • After this period, gradually increase temperature to operating level

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Overwatering the mix: weakens compound and reduces performance
  • Mixing large quantities at once despite short working time (~15 min)
  • Applying onto contaminated or unstable substrates
  • Not preparing smooth/dense surfaces correctly (e.g. lack of abrasion/degreasing)
  • Ignoring temperature range (+15°C to +30°C) during application
  • Exposure to draughts or direct sunlight causing rapid drying and defects

Frequently Asked Questions

In flooring, patching refers to quickly repairing localized damage or minor surface imperfections so the surface is ready for the next stage. They can also be used as patching solutions as products for localized repairs that provide precise filling and smooth finishes.

Patching should be used when there are minor surface imperfections or localized areas that need repair before the next stage of construction or finishing. The RENO C715 EASY FLASH is specifically recommended for patching and smoothing minor surface imperfections before most floor coverings are installed.

Patching solutions provide precise filling, smooth finishes and durable adhesion. For RENO C715 EASY FLASH, there's no priming required, very smooth finishing and fast setting, ready for covering. Also suitable as a rapid drying patching and smoothing compound.

Minor surface imperfections can be smoothed using patching compounds such as RENO C715 EASY FLASH or RENO G905 ALPHA ST. These are suitable for thin applications, typically from feather edge up to 10 mm, depending on the substrate. Priming may be required depending on substrate type.

Surface imperfections such as minor damage, uneven areas or shallow defects can be repaired before flooring installation using RENO C715 EASY FLASH for patching and smoothing minor surface imperfections, or RENO G905 ALPHA ST for repair, patching and smoothing surface imperfections prior to levelling compounds or floor coverings.

RENO C715 EASY FLASH is a rapid drying patching and smoothing compound for internal repairs on walls and floors, recommended for patching and smoothing minor surface imperfections prior to floor coverings.
