Deep fill repair mortar for large repairs
Designed as a deep fill repair mortar, RENO C970 PLUS can be applied from 1 mm up to 100 mm in a single layer. This allows efficient completion of deep repairs without the need for multiple applications.
It is suitable for:
- Filling deep voids and damaged areas
- Rebuilding surfaces
- Levelling uneven substrates
The ability to build up significant thickness makes it particularly effective for structural and heavy-duty repair scenarios.
Deep hole repair mortar for profiling and shaping
As a deep hole repair mortar, the product is recommended for filling, profiling and shaping surfaces, including slopes and transitions. Its non-slump formulation supports accurate placement and shaping without sagging, even in demanding applications.
This makes it suitable for:
- Creating slopes and falls
- Profiling surfaces in wet areas
- Repairing damaged sections requiring reshaping
Application process: RENO C970 PLUS
Quick Application Steps (On-Site Guide)
- Prepare: Ensure base is stable, clean, dry and correctly primed
- Mix: Blend 5 L of water with a 25 kg bag until a workable mortar is achieved
- Apply: Place and shape from 1–100 mm in a single application
- Wait: Allow foot traffic after approximately 2–3 hours
- Cover: Apply finishes after 24 hours (tiles may be installed once walkable)
1. Subfloor preparation
Thorough preparation ensures reliable results:
- Substrates must be solid, dry and free from grease, dust and other contaminants
- Remove weak or unstable layers, coatings and adhesive residues by mechanical preparation
- Vacuum thoroughly to eliminate loose particles
- Check that tiles are securely bonded; repair or remove where required
- Smooth or dense surfaces should be abraded and degreased prior to use
- Cracks and joints must be treated using suitable repair systems
- Apply an appropriate primer depending on substrate type
All substrates should meet applicable building standards before installation begins.
2. Mixing
- Pour 5 litres of clean, cold water into a suitable mixing container
- Gradually introduce the powder while mixing with a mechanical paddle
- Mix for around 2 minutes until a uniform, lump-free consistency is obtained
- No maturation time is required before application
- Working time: approximately 60 minutes
Important: Adding excess water may reduce strength and affect performance.
3. Application
- Apply between 1 mm and 100 mm thickness in a single layer
- Deposit the material and spread evenly using a trowel to the required profile
- Compact thoroughly when filling or shaping to ensure full contact
- Finish and refine the surface within 45–60 minutes before initial set
- For additional layers, allow curing, then re-prime before reapplication
- Particularly suited to profiling, slope formation and high-build repairs
The non-slump formulation allows accurate shaping for demanding applications such as wet areas and terraces.
4. Drying & curing
- Working time: ~60 minutes
- Walk-on time: ~2–3 hours
Protect from rapid drying by avoiding draughts and direct sunlight.
Typical covering times:
- General floor coverings: ~24 hours
- Ceramic tiles: can be installed once the surface is walkable
5. Underfloor heating
- Switch off heating systems 48 hours before, during, and for at least 48 hours after installation
- Gradually bring the system back up to temperature after curing
Common mistakes to avoid
- Overwatering the mix, leading to reduced structural integrity
- Applying onto poorly prepared or contaminated substrates
- Skipping primer selection for specific substrate types
- Exceeding working time (~60 minutes), affecting finish quality
- Inadequate compaction when building up thicker sections
- Applying outside recommended temperature range (+15°C to +30°C)
- Allowing rapid moisture loss due to airflow or direct sunlight

Repair mortars are used to restore damaged concrete or masonry surfaces. They provide strength, durability and a smooth finish, and allow professionals to fill cracks, level surfaces and reinforce structures.
Repair mortars can be used for stair repair, shaping slopes, chase filling, crack bridging and concrete repair. They can also be used for filling holes, reprofiling stairs, reshaping slopes and surface levelling, depending on product.
Repair mortars provide strength, durability and a smooth finish. In renovation, they are positioned to restore damaged surfaces and support long-lasting performance.
RENO C970 PLUS is a high build repair mortar that allows build-up up to 100 mm in one application. It is suitable for shaping slopes, levelling and large repairs, and has a longer working time of about 60 minutes. This makes it well suited to heavy-duty repairs and structural reshaping.
Floor levelling can be achieved after repairing cracks and imperfections. RENO C970 PLUS can be used to level and build up surfaces up to 100 mm, making it suitable for shaping slopes and correcting uneven substrates. For smaller levelling applications, RENO G905 ALPHA ST can be used before applying a levelling compound.
Before installing floor coverings, damaged or uneven substrates can be repaired and smoothed with products selected to suit the defect. RENO G905 ALPHA ST is recommended for repair, patching and smoothing surface imperfections. RENO C715 EASY FLASH is recommended for patching and smoothing minor surface imperfections prior to installation of most floor coverings. RENO C950 QUICK and RENO C970 PLUS are recommended for deeper repairs, levelling, profiling or reshaping where higher build is needed.
