Application process: RENO C950 QUICK
Quick Application Steps (On-Site Guide)
- Prepare: Check substrate is firm, clean, dry and suitably primed
- Mix: Combine 5–6 L water with 25 kg bag, mix to a smooth mortar
- Apply: Install between 1–50 mm in a single pass
- Wait: Allow foot traffic after approximately 45 minutes
- Cover: Apply finishes from 1 hour up to 24 hours depending on system
1. Subfloor preparation
Surface preparation underpins system performance:
- Ensure substrates are structurally stable, dry and free from grease, dust or contaminants
- Eliminate weak surface layers, coatings, adhesives and laitance by mechanical means
- Remove loose particles thoroughly using industrial vacuum equipment
- Confirm tiles are well bonded; repair or remove defective areas
- Smooth or impervious surfaces must be mechanically abraded and cleaned
- Repair cracks and joints with compatible systems before application
- Apply a suitable primer in accordance with substrate requirements
All substrates should comply with relevant standards and site conditions prior to installation.
2. Mixing
- Measure 5 to 6 litres of clean water into a mixing container
- Add the powder gradually while mixing with a mechanical paddle
- Mix continuously for around 2 minutes until a consistent, lump-free blend is formed
- No standing time is required before use
- Pot life: approximately 15–20 minutes
Important: Excess water addition will reduce strength and compromise performance.
3. Application
- Apply in one layer from 1 mm up to 50 mm thickness
- Deposit the material onto the prepared area and distribute evenly with a trowel
- Press firmly into repairs, voids or damaged zones to ensure full contact
- Finish and refine the surface within 10–15 minutes before stiffening occurs
- For greater depths, bulk out with suitable aggregate where required
- Additional layers can be applied once the initial application has cured, with re-priming if necessary
Suitable for repairs, reprofiling and forming gradients on both floors and walls.
4. Drying & curing
- Working time: ~15–20 minutes
- Walk-on time: ~45 minutes
Protect freshly applied material from rapid drying caused by airflow or direct sunlight.
Typical covering times:
- Ceramic tiles: ~1–3 hours
- PVC / carpet: ~2–5 hours
- Wood, rubber, coatings: ~12–24 hours
5. Underfloor heating
- Switch off heating systems 48 hours before, during, and for at least 48 hours after installation
- Gradually recommission heating once the material has cured
Common mistakes to avoid
- Overdosing water, leading to reduced mechanical performance
- Mixing excessive quantities despite limited working time (~15–20 minutes)
- Applying onto contaminated or inadequately prepared substrates
- Skipping primer selection for difficult or non-absorbent surfaces
- Exceeding thickness limits without using aggregate
- Applying outside recommended temperature range (+5°C to +30°C)
- Allowing rapid moisture loss due to draughts or solar exposure
