M-Resin Adhesives

In today’s grab-and-go world, the use of peelable and resealable packaging for multi-serve products is growing. Watch our video to learn about the benefits of our M-Resin Adhesives - another innovative Bostik technology.

The development of SMP based products within Bostik goes back to 1986, when the R&D department of Simson, a Bostik brand, began developing products with a Silane Modified Polymer base.

Silane Modified Polymers (SMP) had been used in Japan since the 1970s as sealants, but in Europe they were relatively unknown in the sealant and adhesive industries.

Evolving the technology, Simson pioneered the elastic bonding technology with SMP based products, creating one of the first elastic adhesives called Quick Seal, which soon became a great success.

By 1994, Simson’s SMP product range covered the diverse automotive, construction and marine markets, revolutionizing uses and applications for this technology.

As bottling line speeds increase to over 500 bottles per minute, the cost of down time becomes a larger consideration in adhesive selection. In addition, beverage companies continue to use packaging as a way to differentiate.

Identifying and reacting to the trends in the PET bottling industry helped our R&D teams design a completely new and unique adhesive to meet the specific demands of this evolving market.

A major vehicle producer in Europe was facing challenges in their plant with adhesive when spot-welding. Our technical engineers reviewed their specific process and recommended a more suitable product.

By working with our customer on a one-to-one basis, we were able to use our expertise in adhesives to solve their problem and produce a significant improvement to their manufacturing process.

One of our advertising mailer customers was unable to find an adhesive to work on the challenging, digitally printed Glatfelter paper and within a difficult performance window.

Our analysts presented a Smart Adhesive that surpassed the competitive product, equalling or exceeding the benchmark performance in every test.
