Empowering Our Employees to Get Involved in CSR Efforts

It’s one thing to say that Bostik as a company believes in corporate social responsibility. It’s quite another to put words into action. With the help and enthusiasm of our global employees, we are finding innovative ways to get them more involved in volunteer efforts that positively impact the three components of sustainability: environment, economy, and society. 

According to Jack Hughes, Bostik Nonwoven’s Global Digital Marketing Manager, and an active participant in North America’s employee volunteering, this approach to involvement in CSR brings a number of benefits. “I think it creates a much more well-rounded work force,” he says. “Helping others makes people happy, which makes Bostik a happy place to work. In addition, Bostik offices and plants are in communities, so it is important for our teams to be connected to their neighborhoods by helping, volunteering, and donating to the improvement of these areas.”

Meeting sustainable development goals with our CSR efforts

In various regions around the globe, Bostik, the global adhesive solutions division of Arkema—has employees who go above and beyond in their participation with our CSR efforts. Examples include: 

• Bostik Friends in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, participates in cleaning up refuse along community rivers; tutoring area students who need additional help with their schooling; collecting food, supplies such as diapers, and financial assistance for various organisations; and a variety of other volunteering events.
• In Latin America, Bostik employees contribute to a wide range of efforts throughout Mexico, including participating in causes that support the treatment of childhood cancer, visiting children living in orphanages, and aiding with disaster relief efforts after severe weather events.
• In Asia, we just marked the 5th anniversary of “ChemArt Green Innovation Class.” This is a long-term CSR program in China with the theme of “Better Life, Better Future.” This initiative entails Arkema employee volunteers visiting a school for migrant workers’ children, donating 85 computers to the school, and providing basic IT skills training for the teachers.

These are a few examples of how our employees worldwide are involved in our ever-growing CSR efforts. We look forward to continuing to support them in exploring and expanding upon their CSR involvement in new and creative ways.
